As a certified Oxford instructor, I absolutely love teaching punch needle rug hooking and sharing the joys of this wonderful art with others! Whether on Zoom or in person, class sizes are always kept small, usually a maximum between 8 and 12 people, to ensure plenty of individual attention and assistance. My desire is to help you achieve your own personal artistic goals while maintaining a fun, and enjoyable experience. Showcase gorgeous wool fabrics by using them as the foundation backing for punch needle rug hooking! By learning to punch wool yarn into wool fabric, you can create beautiful punched projects such as pillows and mats. Since the wool fabric acts as both the backing and background projects work up quickly and most students will have a completed project by the end of class. You'll also learn how to add wool appliqué to embellish your design, plus a super simple method for pillow cover assembly. A fun class with practical applications! We'll cover topics such as design, materials, how to use a punch needle, plus special tricks and techniques and finishing. Class size is small to allow time for learning, practicing and individual attention. By the end of class most students should have a completed project (Hooray!) and a solid enough foundation in punching to be confident in making larger rugs and other fabulous projects. Tools Required: Oxford Punch Needle, Frame (gripper frame or carpet tack recommended), scissors, large needle for finishing. Students can purchase tools from the teacher prior to class if needed. Or perhaps you need some help getting started on a new project or a just little boost to help you finish an old one? An open class may be just right for you! Any new or completed pattern is welcome, whether you designed it yourself, it is from Red Maple Ruggery or another designer. ' This class will include a half hour private zoom to discuss your individual project and needs with me, and then group sessions to discuss the ideas, lend support and guidance on your journey with your rug.

This hybrid certification program is designed for those interested in becoming a punch needle rug hooking instructor, and is designed to give the best of both in-person and online learning. This is an excellent opportunity to get a good start in an exciting field. Simone Vojvodin, rug hooking teacher, since 2011, author, and award winning artist, will cover all the topics necessary to give you the skills and confidence needed to pass the certification, and to be a successful rug hooking teacher with fun bonus content as well!
SCULPTING BUNNIES- Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow! *Class is almost full Live ZOOM Class- meets 4 times Date and Times: May 14th, 21st From 6-8:30 pm EST June 4th, June 11th from 6-8 pm EST Suitable for: beginners familiar with punch needle basics to advanced punch needle students (traditional hookers wanting to hook and sculpt are also welcome) Cost: $100 (Canadian) plus tax Email to pre-register email@example.com In this exciting class you will learn to create two of the 3D sculpted bunnies featured in "A Few Grey Hares" We will cover topics such as types of relief in art, special punching techniques, creating realism or whimsy, shading tricks, bringing your bunnies to 'life', sculpting, and more! There will be time for instruction, working on your project, a question and answer time, plus individual attention during each session. Familiarity with the basics of using a punch needle (either through a beginner class or self taught) is a prerequisite for this class. Traditional hookers who would like to learn about creating sculpted animals with yarn are welcome. Punch Needles required: A minimum of 2 needles- Oxford Punch Needle #8 Fine or Regular and #14 or #13 Fine. (Tools can be purchased from the teacher ahead of class if needed.) Simone Vojvodin is very passionate about teaching punch needle rug hooking and has been an Oxford Certified instructor since 2011. A nature and animal lover, she resides near Dutton, Ontario where she has her studio, Red Maple Ruggery. Simone loves designing patterns, dying wool, helping students, and of course punching rugs- which she describes as 'paintings in wool'. Her rugs have been featured in exhibitions in Canada and the U.S.A, published in magazines and books, and have won multiple awards. She is also the author of the new book "Mastering the Art of Punch Needle Rug Hooking: Techniques and Projects"
