As a certified Oxford instructor, I absolutely love teaching punch needle rug hooking and sharing the joys of this wonderful art with others! Whether on Zoom or in person, class sizes are always kept small, usually a maximum between 8 and 12 people, to ensure plenty of individual attention and assistance. My desire is to help you achieve your own personal artistic goals while maintaining a fun, and enjoyable experience. This hybrid certification program is designed for those interested in becoming a punch needle rug hooking instructor, and is designed to give the best of both in-person and online learning. This is an excellent opportunity to get a good start in an exciting field. Simone Vojvodin, rug hooking teacher, since 2011, author, and award winning artist, will cover all the topics necessary to give you the skills and confidence needed to pass the certification, and to be a successful rug hooking teacher with fun bonus content as well!
BEGINNER PUNCH NEEDLE RUG HOOKING Live ZOOM Workshop Dates: July 18th, 23rd, 25th from 6-8:30 EDT. Suitable for: Complete beginners or those wanting a refresher Class Fee: $65 (Canadian) Plus tax Email to register[email protected] Often described as 'instant gratification", punch needle is a fun and addictive method of rug hooking that is rapidly gaining in popularity! In this workshop, students will create a lovely 8” or 10" punched trivet or chair pad. There is something for everyone with nearly 20 different patterns to choose from. We'll cover topics such as design, materials, how to use a punch needle, plus special tricks and techniques and finishing. Class size is small to allow time for learning, practicing and individual attention. By the end of class most students should have a completed project (Hooray!) and a solid enough foundation in punching to be confident in making larger rugs and other fabulous projects. Tools Required: Oxford Punch Needle, Frame (gripper frame or carpet tack recommended), scissors, large needle for finishing. Students can purchase tools from the teacher prior to class if needed. Simone Vojvodin Teachers Bio:
Simone Vojvodin is very passionate about teaching punch needle rug hooking and has been an Oxford Certified instructor since 2011. A nature and animal lover, she resides near Dutton, Ontario where she has her studio, Red Maple Ruggery. Simone loves designing patterns, dying wool, helping students, and of course punching rugs- which she describes as 'paintings in wool'. Her rugs have been featured in exhibitions in Canada and the U.S.A, published in magazines and books, and have won multiple awards. She is also the author of the new book "Mastering the Art of Punch Needle Rug Hooking: Techniques and Projects"
