As a certified Oxford instructor, I absolutely love teaching punch needle rug hooking and sharing the joys of this wonderful art with others! Whether on Zoom or in person, class sizes are always kept small, usually a maximum between 8 and 12 people, to ensure plenty of individual attention and assistance. My desire is to help you achieve your own personal artistic goals while maintaining a fun, and enjoyable experience. JACOBEAN TOTE BAG Workshop - Live ZOOM class. *Class is FULL* Meets 4 times: August 24th 6:00pm to 9:00 pm, September 14th 6:00pm to 7:00pm, January 12th 6:00 pm, January 19th 6:00pm Suitable for: Beginner to Advanced Email to pre-register firstname.lastname@example.org Class Fee: $75 plus tax Here is a fun way to expand your punch needle skills and create a gorgeous punched tote bag! The bag is soft structured and a generous size; roomy enough to load it up with all your rug hooking gear or other treasures, but still lightweight and easy to carry. It has been designed to be kind to the assembler- the sewing is simple, quick and straightforward. The class will be divided into 4 sessions spaced over a few months to allow time to work through all stages of making the tote in class. Learn about using the fine punch to make lightweight accessories, the use of colour with-in the design to create beauty and continuity, plus how to punch perfect letters as the bottom of each bag will be personalized with the monogram letters of your choosing. In the final classes you will also learn how to finish your bag including steps for easy assembly, inserting the lining fabric, and attaching the leather handles.

Showcase gorgeous wool fabrics by using them as the foundation backing for punch needle rug hooking! By learning to punch wool yarn into wool fabric, you can create beautiful punched projects such as pillows and mats. Since the wool fabric acts as both the backing and background projects work up quickly and most students will have a completed project by the end of class. You'll also learn how to add wool appliqué and a fancy stitch with the punch needle to embellish your design, plus a super simple method for pillow cover assembly. A fun class with practical applications!

Learn to create an dazzling assortment of beautiful fancy stitches using the Oxford punch needle to add interest and pizzazz to your hooked and punched rugs. Beading, Chain, Embroidery, Tunnel, and Couching stitches are just a few of the creative fancy stitches you will learn, all while creating a pretty little mat designed to show off your new found skills! The pattern is modest in size to allow for easy completion.

Often described as 'instant gratification", punch needle is a fun and addictive method of rug hooking that is rapidly gaining in popularity! In this workshop, students will create a lovely 8” or 10" punched trivet or chair pad. There is something for everyone with nearly 20 different patterns to choose from. We'll cover topics such as design, materials, how to use a punch needle, plus special tricks and techniques and finishing. Class size is small to allow time for learning, practicing and individual attention. By the end of class most students should have a completed project (Hooray!) and a solid enough foundation in punching to be confident in making larger rugs and other fabulous projects. Tools Required: Oxford Punch Needle, Frame (gripper frame or carpet tack recommended), scissors, large needle for finishing. Students can purchase tools from the teacher prior to class if needed. 3D SCULPTED DEER * live ZOOM workshop Dates: December 6, 8, 13 (meets 3 times) Location: Meets online using Zoom Suitable for: practiced beginners to advanced Class Fee: $65 plus tax (Canadian dollars) In this workshop we will be learning how to create a handsome stag rug, using special techniques for clipped sculpting. You'll be guided step-by-step on the easy punching of the design with shading and visual depth and we will also cover the process of sculpting and clipping to create the lovely 3D effect of the stunning stag looking as though he is about to emerge from the frame! He can be embellished with holly and berries for a festive look, and I'll show you how to make these removable should you wish to keep the rug on display year 'round.

DATA DELIGHT; TEMPERATURE RUGS: a year of a minutes a day rug making alongside Mother Nature Live ZOOM Class Suitable For Rug Punchers and Traditional Rug Hookers, Beginners to Advanced! Location: Meets online using Zoom Dates: Meets three times, two teaching days and a year end check in December 29th, January 5th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST Year End class date TBD Class Fee: $45 plus tax (Canadian Dollars) Create a delightful, dynamic rug design to reflect the daily temperatures- or any other daily data- and make 2022 an exciting year of rug hooking! These gorgeous rugs take a bit of planning at the start and then become a wonderful exercise in letting go of control as we let mother nature do the colour planning for us! We just get to sit back and enjoy the process of punching or hooking a few loops each day to create a wonderful wool rug representation of the entire year's weather . These rugs can be small mats, or room sized wonders; in any shape or size you desire! Class 1: Visually representing data, considerations for your temperature rug, the challenges and how to overcome them, data scales, motifs, ideas and developing your design Class 2: Working with Mother Nature, colour scale, making a key, anomalies (being prepared for the unexpected), finding records, keeping organised and getting ready to punch or hook your design at the start of the new year. Simone Vojvodin Teachers Bio:
Simone Vojvodin is very passionate about teaching punch needle rug hooking and has been an Oxford Certified instructor since 2011. A nature and animal lover, she resides near Dutton, Ontario where she has her studio, Red Maple Ruggery. Simone loves designing patterns, dying wool, helping students, and of course punching rugs- which she describes as 'paintings in wool'. Her rugs have been featured in exhibitions in Canada and the U.S.A, published in magazines and books, and have won multiple awards. She is also the author of the new book "Mastering the Art of Punch Needle Rug Hooking: Techniques and Projects"
